Description
Method: This pattern is written in U.S. crochet terms. It contains written round by round instructions with photos for each round and a chart of the complete square.
Stitches used: chain, sc, hdc, dc, front post dc, 3dc-cl. There are written instructions and photos illustrating the front post dc and 3dc-cl.
Using 5 colors (as shown) makes this square a great way to use up leftovers, but you can use less colors, or even make the whole square with just one color if you wish (notes for this are included in the pattern).
The stitch count for each round appears in bold blue type at the end of the round.
Gauge and Size: Gauge is not important for this project and will depend on the weight of yarn that you use and the size of hook. As a guide my square measured 4 “(10 cm) when completed with dk yarn and a 4mm (G) hook.
Yarn: You can use any weight and fiber of yarn that you like to make your squares, just use an appropriately sized hook for the yarn that you are using.
I used 5 colors of 60% cotton 40% acrylic dk yarn for my squares (Sirdar Calico is now discontinued, but Sirdar Stories is almost identical):
Color A – Sirdar Calico in White
Color B – Sirdar Calico in Peach
Color C – Sirdar Calico in Mint Green
Color D – Sirdar Stories in 827 Glow Sticks
Color E – Sirdar Calico in Purple
Hook: 4mm (G) crochet hook for DK yarn (or size appropriate for your yarn)
Other Materials Required:
Scissors
Darning needle for sewing in ends
