Size:
Instructions are given for the blanket pictured, which was constructed with 36 Simply Star blocks joined in a 6 x 6 configuration. Worked at the gauge stated below the completed blanket measures approx. 48¼” (122 cm) square.
However, the border is designed to accommodate any configuration and number of squares that you wish so that you can make larger or smaller square or even rectangular blankets. Notes for doing this are included.
Gauge:
Using DK yarn and a 4.5mm (7) crochet hook a completed block measures approx. 6¾” (17 cm) square.
Using 4 ply yarn will result in a smaller block, using worsted weight (aran), chunky (bulky), or jumbo yarn will result in a larger block.
Yarn:
This pattern was designed with Cygnet Glittery DK, a 98% acrylic, 2% polyester yarn with 274m in 100g balls. You can use any weight and fiber of yarn that you like to make your blanket, just use an appropriately sized hook for the yarn that you are using. To make the blanket shown I used the following quantities:
Yarn A – 9632 Jack O’Lantern approx. 590 metres (645 yards)
Yarn B – 9428 Phantom approx. 650 metres (711 yards)
Yarn C – 9217 Cauldron approx. 1020 metres (1120 yards)
Hook:
4.5mm (7) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge (or appropriate for your yarn).
Other Materials Required:
2 lockable stitch markers
Tape Measure
Scissors
Darning needle for sewing in ends.
